Firefox
The current version of Firefox is 1.07.  In some cases updating to 1.07 solves the problem of Firefox not updating properly.  For some reason we have seen this most frequently with users whose home site is www.msn.com. We will update Firefox as part of  your December round of System Updates if we have not done so already.

Home Users
We offer home user coverage only to users whose companies have Service Contracts.  Home user Service Contracts renew in January 2006.

Please Note:
A company calling itself Nic Tech (note the space)  apparently distributes a spyware product. We have no connection with this company.

We are a Seattle-based company that provides computing consultation services to small businesses - primarily those having 20 users or less. We have no developers and only provide legitimate software to our customers in the Seattle area.

In our "Support" section check out the security FAQ for home computer users that shares the tools we use to help ward off unwanted home computer intrusions.

  Who Are We?
This year, NIC Technology, Inc. celebrates its 12th Anniversary, having served Pacific Northwest businesses since 1994. It is owned by Hal Perry who has provided IT services since 1984. Our pricing and support make it possible for small businesses to have a cost-effective primary resource to meet their information technology needs.

Our business is "small business."  In most cases this means serving companies with 20 networked computers or less. Our first instinct is to listen - we want to understand your business. While we listen we mutually identify the best computing assets to support your business. Finally, we recommend and implement software and hardware solutions, that enable your business to operate with maximum effectiveness and efficiency.

  What Do We Offer?
Proven State of the Art Technology

Through continuous research we identify security, office management and business management tools that are best of kind. We thoroughly test the tools that we use and have extensive experience implementing them successfully.

Predictable Fixed Pricing

NIC Technology provides product, project and ongoing service contracts on a fixed price basis.  This allows the small business owner to accurately predict and plan their computing costs. Prices are agreed upon in advance.  Once the scope of work is defined and mutually approved, jobs are completed at that price, even if time needed to complete the job exceeds the number of hours used to estimate the contract.  This allows our clients to avoid the "cost creep" that is characteristic of many technology projects.

Annual Support Contracts

Usually the companies we serve do not have their own IT department. NIC Technology, Inc. functions as their virtual IT department.  We offer annual, fixed price Service Contracts which cover:

  •  Consultation and labor to repair computer and software problems

  • Annual workstation cleaning

  • System configuration reviews

  •  Periodic system status review and planning.

  •  Priority “business down” service.

  • Computer problem support (telephone or on-site) as needed.

  • Automated installation of Operating System and Line of Business Service Packs as need

  • Labor to replace failed computer parts: includes backup and recovery of data if possible.

  •  Support, as necessary, to install maintenance upgrades on major business software packages

Service Contracts are provided for systems that are initially at a "current" status as agreed between the client and NIC Technology, Inc and have recommended security and disaster recovery tools installed.  Out of warranty hardware is purchased by the client.
